Memory of the fallen of Great Patriotic War honoured in Holy Land
On May 9, 2021, the head of the Russian Ecclesiastical Mission in Jerusalem, Archimandrite Alexander (Elisov), attended the solemn ceremony devoted to the Victory Day, which took place at the Candle of Memory in Jerusalem, a memorial to those who were killed in the Great Patriotic War.
The event organized by the Russian Federation embassy was opened by Russia’s Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary in Israel, A. D. Viktorov. The solemn ceremony was attended by Knesset members, Israeli government officials, representatives of the Jerusalem Municipality, diplomatic representatives from various countries, Belarus’s Ambassador E. S. Vorobyev, Kazakhstan’s Ambassador D. O. Kuanyshev, Uzbekistan’s Ambassador Ms. F. Makhmudova, numerous diplomats and representatives of Israeli public organizations.
After the official speeches, Ambassador Mr. Viktorov, Archimandrite Alexander and ambassadors from fraternal states laid wreaths at the memorial.
