The memory of the 1821-1823 Greek liberation movement fighters to be honoured in Moscow

On March 25, 2021, a solemn thanksgiving will be celebrated and the Office for the Dead will be said ar the Donskoy Stauropegial Monastery in Moscow for the freedom fighters of the 1821-1823 Greek liberation movement.

With a blessing of His Holiness Cyril. Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia, the divine service was led by Metropolitan Hilarion of Volokolamsk, head of the Moscow Patriarchate department for external church relations. Archbishop Feognost of Kashira, head of the Synodal department for monasteries and monastics and vicar of the Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia, and Bishop Feofiolakt of Dmitrov will concelebrate. The solemn worship service will begin at 15:00.

It is expected that the service timed to the 200 th anniversary of the beginning of the Greek liberation movement will be attended by the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Hellenic Republic to the Russian Federation, Ms Ekaterini Nassika, and representatives of the Greek diaspora, as well as Russian and Greek Diplomats.
