Brazil deanery priest visits Orthodox community in Salvador in State of Bahia
On January 24, with a blessing of Bishop Leonid of Argentine and South America, Father Andrey Khazov celebrated the Divine Liturgy in the Bom Pastor Chapel, which has been placed at the Orthodox community’s disposal for the celebration by a parish of the Anglican Episcopal Church.
On that day, the Orthodox faith was liturgically adopted by Constantine Oliveira, a Brazilian native of Bahia, a university professor who has studied the Russian culture and Orthodoxy for a long time. He has a page in Instagram where he narrates in Portuguese about Russia, her traditions and culture.
After the service, parishioners, accompanied by Russian guide Galina Chervyakova, showed to Father Andrey the main sights in Salvador with its numerous old Brazilian Baroque churches of the colonial era.
