Patriarchal Exarch of Africa performs lesser consecration of three churches in Kenya

On 21st August 2026, Metropolitan Konstantin of Cairo and North Africa, Patriarchal Exarch of Africa, performed the rite of lesser consecration of the newly built Church of St. Athanasius the Great in Nyabigege village, Migori Deanery, Kenya. In prayerful attendance were Priest Patapios Chasia, Dean of the Migori Church District; Priest Theodore Ouru, Rector of St. Athanasius Parish; and clerics of the deanery. Metropolitan Konstantin delivered a homily, congratulated parishioners on the consecration of their church and presented the parish with a censer.
After the service, the hierarch visited the parish orphanage and inspected its new building constructed with the assistance of the Foundation for the Support of Christian Culture and Heritage, website of the Patriarchal Exarchate of Africa reports.
The day before, on August 20th, Metropolitan Konstantin had officiated at the rite of lesser consecration of the Church of Saints Constantine and Helen, Equal of the Apostles, in the Kenyan village of Tilolwo, Nandi Deanery. Prior to that, the archpastor had baptized four children. He was assisted by Deacon Neophytos Kipkemboi, a student of the Tomsk Theological Seminary.
Metropolitan Konstantin addressed the faithful with an archpastoral exhortation, greeted the parish rector, Dean Titus Kipngeni, and presented the parish with an altar cross.
After that, Metropolitan Konstantin performed the blessing of motorcycles provided to the local clergy thanks to Russian benefactors. Clergymen of the Nandi Deanery, along with the clergy in other Kenyan church districts, also received cows.
Later that day, Metropolitan Konstantin held a general pastoral meeting, taking part in which were all clerics of the local deanery. Discussed at the meeting were activities of the local parishes and further development of church life in the deanery.
On August 18th, while in Kenya, the Patriarchal Exarch of Africa had also performed the lesser consecration of the Church of the Holy Unmercenaries Cosmas and Damian in Mulowolo village, Vihiga Deanery, and officiated at the Divine Liturgy in the newly consecrated church. Concelebrating with Metropolitan Konstantin were Priest Niсanor Shilesi, Dean of the Vihiga Church District; Priest Nicodemus Karanja, Rector of Saints Cosmas and Damian Parish; and clerics of the deanery.
After the divine service, Metropolitan Konstantin congratulated parishioners on the consecration of their church and presented the parish with a set of liturgical covers. Thanks to Russian benefactors, the Vihiga Deanery clergy also received motorcycles and cows.
Later that day, the hierarch held a general pastoral meeting for the Vihiga Deanery clergy. Taking part in the meeting were also Kenyan students from the Russian theological schools who had returned home for vacation.
