On 31 August 2010, Metropolitan Hilarion of Volokolamsk, who was on a working visit to the USA with the blessing of His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia and by invitation of His Beatitude Metropolitan Jonah of All America and Canada, met with Ms. Anne Glynn-Mackoul, legal adviser of the Antiochian Orthodox Archdiocese of North America and a member of the World Council of Churches’ Committee for Consensus and Cooperation.

On July 15, 2010, the day which marks the 269th Anniversary of the Founding of Russian America, or present day Alaska, Archimandrite Zacchaeus, Representative of the Orthodox Church in America to the Moscow Patriarchate celebrated a memorial service (panikhida) at Holy Trinity Church “in Listakh” for the group of explorers led by Captain Alexei Chirikov and Navigator Captain Vitus Bering on the two ships St Peter and St Paul which arrived on the Aleutian Islands and parts of the North American Coastline during the Great Northern Expedition.

On July 6, at his residence, His Beatitude Christopher, Archbishop of Prague, Metropolitan of the Czech Lands and Slovakia, awarded Mr. Dmitry Malyshev, adviser to the chairman of Gazprom Neft’s board, and Mr. Igor Vozykov, a well-known sponsor and former top manager of the Transneft company, the highest church order – the Grand Order of Sts Cyril and Methodius, in recognition of their support for the Church of the Czech Lands and Slovakia and financial contribution to the painting of murals in the cathedral of the Michalovcie and Kosica diocese.
